Lindsey Galvan, now a former tenant at the Crown Inn, says, "There are a lot of people that have no place to go."
Kevin Varnell, also a former tenant, adds, "Bam, 12 'o clock, we got to leave all of a sudden."
20 hours, that is how much time Varnell says he got to pack up and move out of the Crown Inn, a place he called home for four years.
Varnell adds, "Don't make no sense."
Varnell says after a closed sign was taped up, he never really got a clear reason as to why he needed to leave.
However, rumors quickly surfaced that the reason had everything to do with a certain parasitic insect that feeds on human blood.
Galvan adds, "Yeah, we've seen the Bedbugs and stuff. Yes, we have."
We tried to talk to managers, but they did not have anything to say to our cameras.
In fact, they had us kicked off the property.
So, we went to the Hamilton County Health Department, and found out after two complaints came in Friday, they conducted an extensive investigation.
Officials tell us they found numerous violations, but the biggest by far, was Bedbugs.
Galvan adds, "He won't do anything about it, said he doesn't have enough money to fix it."
Inspectors went into 9 rooms, and found most were infested.
Varnell says, "It aint right at all."
Now, the health department says, plain and simple, you have ten days to fix the critical violations or we will take steps to revoke your permit to operate a motel.
Well, looks as if the motel is taking a different option, the option of just shutting down all the rooms that are infested.
And that is ok, says, the health department.
Galvan adds, "Should have just given us a little time. I don't know where to go."
Right now, the Red Cross, they say, is the only option that does not make their skin crawl.
The deputy fire marshal in East Ridge tells us they have also been investigating the motel for a few weeks now, but cannot release their findings just yet.
