Some local kids got a lesson in disability awareness.
Students at E Kids Learning Center wrapped up the week-long program with a Hop-a-Thon today.
Each hop means money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The kids and day care staff have already raised almost $2,000.
A school mate with the progressive muscle wasting disease was the main inspiration behind the program.
It's aimed at teaching children how to be a helpful friend to those with disabilities like M.D.
Christy Striker,Muscular Dystrophy Association,"I think it's important because so many children are bullied now a days and I think teaching early on that just because someone is different or in a wheel chair has leg braces or another disability doesn't mean that they aren't a person and has feelings as well."
The MDA holds Hop-a-Thons at more than 100 centers in the Chattanooga area.
