Folks in the fastest growing part of Hamilton County will soon have access to state-of the-art emergency services closer to home.
Erlanger Health System held a "ground opening" ceremony to kick of construction on a $7.8 million emergency center at Erlanger East.
That's on Gunbarrel Road.
When completed, the new facility will take up 22,000 square feet.
It will offer the latest technology for emergency care.
About 80 specialists will provide a wide range of services, but not trauma care.
Charlesetta Woodward-Thompson, Erlanger President, "It will be full service, but it's not a trauma center. We will be treating everything from sports injuries to major illnesses for both children and adults."
Erlanger estimates 15,000 patients will visit the East Emergency Center within the first year of operation.
