CHATTANOOGA, TN. (WDEF-TV)-- Winter is on the way and that usually means fewer insects to bug you.
Unless, those insects are "stink" bugs--- who would like nothing better than to move-in with you for a few months.
They are already looking for a warm place to stay.

TOM STEBBINS, AGENT, UT EXTENSION SERVICE "The stink that people smell .Everyone thinks it smells differently..some people think it smells like cleaning fluid, cleaning lotion..or something..but to my knowledge its not harmful to humans."

The University of Tennessee Agriculture Extension Service is getting lots of phone calls this month.
People want to know what to do about stink bugs that are swarming their homes..and sometimes finding a way inside.
Its happening all over southeastern Tennessee and those are not your regular stink bugs---these came from Asia.

TOM STEBBINS, AGENT, UT EXTENSION SERVICE "This one is one that we've never seen before and its probably never seen any predators in our area either...its called the brown marmorated stink bug."

Tom Stebbins and his staff have collected a few of these super bugs for study.
They are not dangerous and they don't come in the house to eat.

TOM STEBBINS "Because it was in Georgia first..its coming up through our way..this way."

Jeremy Bramblett is actually an expert on human anatomy at UTC, but he collects insects as a hobby, and these stink bugs got his attention when they showed up in his St. Elmo home.
His 3 year old daughter saw them first.

JEREMY BRAMBLETT, UTC LECTURER "Well she asked me what it was and I said it was a stink bug and she wanted me to get rid of them in the house, so I just hand collected them..and threw them outside."

TOM STEBBINS "They are definitely going to be getting worse and worse, I think as the years go on..right now we've just had them for about 3 years and to my knowledge there's no natural predator."

Tom Stebbins says if you want to get rid of those stink bugs in the house, just use your vacuum cleaner.
