Luther's induction into the Radio Hall of Fame marks a new chapter that began more than 7 decades ago.
Luther wanted to make a living answering the phones.
But Minor League Baseball team owner Joe Engel had other ideas.
He asked him to read some copy for the radio station as well.
Luther got the radio job, and the rest is part of our history.
Over the years, he's found stray animals, and helped the community through its darkest hours.
Fellow broadcaster, and well known Talk Show Host Geraldo Rivera is impressed with Luther's resume.
"To see someone who was actually on the air at Pearl Harbor, and then again for 9/11, my God. Think of everything that happened in the world and the nation and in Tennessee in all that time."
U.S. Senator Bob Corker knows the difference Luther had made in the Tennessee Valley.
" He's that sort of switchboard operator here in our community, where, when people have needs, they call Luther, and Luther is so listened to that he's able to make a lot of great things happen."
Congratulations Luther Masingill.
"Thank you for the honor. And if you ever lose your dog, call me."
