(WDEF) Chattanooga, TN: Volkswagen Chattanooga is the first auto manufacturer in the U.S. to offer its community a new driver training program that meets all of the Level 8 criteria set forth by the National Defensive Driving Institute
. The event will be offered on the weekends of August 16-17, September 27-29, October 25-27 and November 22-24. This event will serve as a fundraiser for all area schools as well.
“Cars are the #1 killer of teens” says Jeffrey ‘Homer’ Stillwell, founder of the Accident Avoidance Workshops, an Atlanta-based program also offered at Atlanta and Bristol Motor Speedways. “Volkswagen realizes it’s their future customers we’re keeping safe … it’s a terrific investment in their community’s goodwill … it positions them as a leader in the industry!”
Statistically, graduates of programs less comprehensive than the Accident Avoidance Workshops has produce more than a 75% reduction in those crash rates. This 8-hour, turn-key, parent-participation program can earn both the student and the parents a Defensive Driving Certificate, which can significantly reduce the insurance rates of those who haven’t done so in the past 3 years. But the real reason parents are signing up? “They want their family to remain complete” says Stillwell.
The Accident Avoidance Workshops has extended the open invitation to all local media to attend and/or film the event, and welcomes the collaboration of any media wishing to join Volkswagen Chattanooga in supporting this community effort. Learn more here
