Students from the 21st Century Child Development and Learning Center recently got help from their parents to plant a garden.
But the students from this daycare center will be doing most of the work.
The kids will pick the vegetables when they are ready, and the staff will cook them, and make sure the youngsters eat those vegetables.
Parent Ericka Milligan thinks this lesson plan is about much more than just gardening.
"I think it teaches them about nutrition, gives them like skills that they need. That it's important to grow your own food just in case we had a disaster and stores close down."
Leaders from Cornerstone Community Bank have a long term relationship with the 21st Century Child Development and Learning Center.
In fact, the Bank build the beds for the gardens.
Diciree Wheeler is the Founder and President of the daycare center.
She hopes the kids learn something about their efforts.
"To plant the garden, and to know where their vegetables are coming from, to know the meaning of working and gathering vegetables and stuff like that, I feel like it's very important for the kids to know about that."
