Notre Dame High School Senior Katie Ward was one of 20 girls to compete for the title of "Distinguished Young Woman of Tennessee for 2013."
Katie won the event.
That got her a 54-hundred dollar scholarship.
Participants were evaluated in the categories of Scholastics, Interview, Fitness, Self-Expression and Talent.
Throughout the next year, Ward will represent the state at various public events and serve as a role model to young people by spreading the program's national outreach message of "Be Your Best Self."
