On May 3rd, Westside Elementary School First Grade students hosted a Lemonade Stand at the school in Rocky Face.
The idea behind the project was to raise money to battle childhood cancer.
While reading "The Lemonade War" series by Jacqueline Davies, students were motivated to hold their own lemonade stand to raise money for an end of the year party.
As they researched how to start a lemonade stand, one of the videos they watched was about Alexandra "Alex" Scott's journey, and why she started her lemonade stand in 2000.
The students in Whitfield County quickly and unselfishly decided that finding a cure for childhood cancer was more important than raising money for a party.
