The Ooltewah High School band is getting state recognition in Nashville today.
State Representative Mike Carter invited the band to be presented a Governor's Proclamation.
It recognizes the band being outstanding representatives for the state.
Officials said the honor is a result of hundreds of phone calls, emails, and letters to the state capitol and Rep. Carter praising the band's performance in the 2013 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Each member of the band received a citation from Representative Carter.
The event took place with the entire band on the floor of the House Chamber.
