The students and staff at Orchard Knob Elementary school just recently held a celebration party.
That's because Orchard Knob has been named a 2013 Tennessee Reward School for Progress.
During the 2012-2013 school year, the growth at the school more than doubled in several of the core academic subjects that are tested by TCAP.
LeAndrea Ware is the Director of the Hamilton County Innovation Zone.
She's proud of this success story.
"They come to school everyday, they work really hard and you go 180 days and you don't always know what the results will be, but we get to celebrate today that their results were phenomenal, and this just sets the bar higher for us to keep growing."
Ware says it's important for the school district to take time to recognize the progress at Orchard Knob.
"So often we are in the trenches and we're working so hard that we don't take the time to just celebrate, and let people know that we really appreciate them for what they do when they go above and beyond everyday, we appreciate that, and it gives motivation for people to keep climbing."
