Tyner High School has a unique way of supporting STEM education.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.
Students are getting help in their efforts from TVA.
Jim Hopson works in the Public Relations Department for TVA.
He's excited about the progress Tyner students are making.
"Because quite frankly this is the next generation of folks that are going to be bringing on this technology to the mainstream.
So what they are doing here with both solar and wind is very cutting edge, especially for this age group."
Hopson thinks the students will learn quite a bit about solar and wind generated power.
"It's great to see these young people experimenting with both of these and understanding the limitations, as well as the benefits of both of these, and perhaps how to combine them into something that's really going to be mainstream as we move down the road."
