(WDEF)  These sisters have been singing together their whole lives.  And together is how they learned to play instruments like guitar and mandolin.
Rebekah Rapp said, "It's really fun.  Just to be able to learn together and then, you know, get each other's feedback and stuff has been a blast."
Eleanor Angel added, "It's definitely been getting hard, like, recently because we started getting bigger and so it becomes more of like a business.  And so it's hard.  We have to make sure we get our sister time, too.  Where we're not talking about band stuff and we're not writing because otherwise we'd drive each other insane."
But those moments of insanity are few and far between.  The sisters describe themselves as best friends.
Rapp said, "Now it's really cool to see how 20 years of work on our relationship has really developed.  And so it's just fun."
That collaboration plays into the creative process.
Angel said, "So we'd cover songs growing up all the time.  Old folk stuff.  But, yeah, it was just a year ago that we decided to write our own stuff and actually go for it."   Rapp added, "We would take my poetry and she would put it to music and then we'd kind of switch that around, too."
Fun and family take center stage in Ten Bartram's sound.  The girls' mom grew up on Lookout Mountain and the sisters made many trips to the Scenic City.  The name "Ten Bartram" reminds them of that.  Angel said, "It's the street address of our grandmother's old house on Lookout Mountain actually."
Rapp added, "We kind of feel like it's the place where we started but also a place with so many memories.  She doesn't live there any more so we're trying to keep up there."
A family affair through and through.
Angel said, "We have a ball.  Oh my gosh, it's amazing.  Every time we're like on stage and we're playing music I'm just like, 'There's nothing better.'"  Rapp followed up with: "Yeah, there's really nothing we'd rather be doing."
