Roasted Onion & Jalapeño
You might like this, but for me the idea of a savoury shortbread is an oxymoron. There's a little bit of fighting going on in my mouth and the winners are... the onion and jalapeño, the loser… being slightly sweet. They recommend serving it with cheese, but also as a snack with cocktails. With a cocktail it might actually work. One cookie is 50 calories, 3 grams of fat and about 1 1/2 grams of sugars. No artificial colors or preservatives. Imported from Scotland. Retails for $3.99 for 3.8 oz (12 cookies). Total score is 83.
Gluten Free Cheese Ups
These cheese crisps are actually pretty tasty. Baked and gluten free and the second ingredient is gouda cheese. They say that 43% of the product is actually cheese. 4 1/2 grams of fat for about 1/3 of the container, with 4 grams of protein. One complaint is the package through settling only contains about this much (about 1/3) and wait, another complaint, most are actually broken. No artificial colors or preservatives and celiac certified. Retails for $2.99 for 3 oz. Retails for 83.
Caffe Vergnano 1882
is a hit.
I have to start out this review by saying I'm an all time fanatic fan of Nespresso. These are made to fit the Nespresso machines but rather than being made from metal they are made of plastic. The coffee itself is a medium roast, slightly bitter, true to the authentic Italian espresso. I really like that on the package they list the amount of caffeine for both a single and a double. They're about the same price as Nespresso who has a much broader assortment of blends and frankly I love how they specify the country of origin for each of their many blends. Would I switch? Not yet, Imported from Italy. Retails for $5.99 for 1.8 oz (10 capsules). Total score is 89.
is a hit.
I love spicy salsa and I love chunky salsa. This wins one in one of those, the flavor is terrific with tomatoes as the first ingredient and peaches the second. The onions and peppers create a wonderful flavor and burn and aside from making it a little chunkier it could be a perfect salsa. 2 tablespoons are just 15 calories. I could see using this on chicken or fish and certainly on grilled vegetables, with chips it's probably too runny. Retails for $5.99 for 16 oz. Total score is 89.
is the hit of the week.
Attention all you chocolate lovers out there. This is a layer of dark chocolate with a layer of hazelnut milk chocolate with hazelnuts in between. In fact 8% of the bar is actually whole hazelnuts and another almost 4% chopped hazelnuts. One third of the bar is about 280 calories with just over 3 grams of protein and 19 grams of fat. But I know what you want to know - how does it taste? Terrific. You’ll enjoy! Retails for $4.39 for 5.29 oz. Total score is 90.
