TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama is again braving the August heat and preseason hype.

The two-time defending national champion Crimson Tide opened fall camp on a steamy Friday with veterans practicing in the morning and newcomers in the evening.

Coach Nick Saban and players dismissed the preseason No. 1 ranking in the coaches poll.

Saban, in fact, told reporters not to even ask about it. He says preseason polls are "to enhance the entertainment business" and every team is doing the same thing as Alabama right now.

Safety HaHa Clinton-Dix says he only pays attention to "what we earned."

The Tide has 13 returning starters but must replace three first-round draft picks.

Saban says tight end Malcolm Faciane is suspended "for behavior reasons." He says freshman defensive lineman Darius Paige has been medically disqualified.
