Prized recruit Hand verbals to Alabama

Woodbridge, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Defensive end Da'Shawn Hand, one of the nation's most sought-after football recruits, announced his intention to attend Alabama during a press conference Thursday at his high school in Woodbridge, VA.

Hand, who turned 18 on Thursday, is rated as the No. 1 overall prospect of the 2014 class by Rivals.com. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound standout choose the two-time defending BCS champion Crimson Tide over Michigan and Florida.

"It was hard, but I think I made the right decision," said Hand. "Roll Tide."

The five-star recruit said he plans to study civil engineering at Alabama.

Hand is the second consensus top-10 prospect to verbally commit to the Crimson Tide, joining Cameron Robinson, an offensive lineman from West Monroe, LA who is rated No. 3 overall by Rivals.
