TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - University of Alabama freshman cornerback Tony Brown has been charged with failure to obey officers and resisting arrest by police responding to a complaint of a loud party at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex.
The Tuscaloosa News reports 18-year-old Brown was arrested Saturday night less than three weeks after he came to Alabama as an early enrollee for 2014. Brown was rated a five-star prospect from Beaumont, Texas.
Alabama associate athletics director Jeff Purinton says coach Nick Saban knows of the arrest. Brown was released from jail on $1,500 bond. It was not known if he had an attorney.
Tuscaloosa police say Brown approached officers repeatedly and "yelled threatening profanity" after being told to leave a parking lot. Police say they used pepper spray on Brown after he resisted arrest.
