Chattanooga-(WDEF) The Hamilton County Boys and Girls club reeled in Vols coach Butch Jones as their guest speaker Tuesday night for their annual banquet at the Chattanoogan.
Jones elaborated on the Boys and Girls Club theme of investing in the lives of others.
Tennessee has invested a lot in their rivalry with Alabama.
And Jones was glad to see the SEC decided to keep that rivalry, even as they maintain only an eight game league schedule.
Said Jones,"I was going to let it play itself out. The big thing I was concerned with is being able to preserve the great rivalry we have with Alabama. That was really where my focus was, and really what's for the betterment of the league. Right now, an eight-game schedule is currently the best right now for the Southeastern Conference."
At least Jones team will have some time to grow up before they face Bama this season.
He closed his speech by saying, "We're going to set the world record in college football for true freshmen playing."
