LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville will open the 2015 season against former national champion Auburn in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff game in Atlanta.

Cardinals athletic director Tom Jurich said in a release Thursday he was "thrilled" to be invited to the annual game at the Georgia Dome that usually features top teams and awards the Old Leather Helmet trophy to the winner.

The game will be only the second meeting between the schools and first since Auburn beat Louisville 16-3 in Birmingham, Ala. in 1974.

Louisville will open the 2013 season Sunday against Ohio ranked No. 9, its highest preseason ranking ever.

Auburn won the BCS championship in 2011. The Tigers open their season Saturday against Washington State with new coach Gus Malzahn trying to return Auburn to respectability after finishing 3-9 last year.
