Auburn's Tre Mason Named SEC Offensive Player of the Year

ATLANTA (AP) - Auburn running back Tre Mason is the offensive player of the year, while Gus Malzahn claimed the coaching award on The Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference football team.
The Tigers were rewarded on the team announced Monday after going from worst to first. Mason was a unanimous choice at running back and overwhelming pick as the top offensive player for leading the SEC with 1,621 yards rushing and 22 touchdowns. That includes a record 304-yard performance against Missouri in the league championship game.
Malzahn coached Auburn (12-1) to one of the great turnarounds in college football history. After going 3-9 a year ago, the Tigers will meet Florida State in the BCS championship game.
Missouri's Michael Sam is defensive player of the year. Alex Collins of Arkansas was named top freshman.
