ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Georgia has announced that sophomore defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor has been dismissed from the team following his arrest on aggravated assault and family violence charges.
The school announced Taylor's dismissal on Wednesday.
A University of Georgia police department report stated that Taylor allegedly used his hands to choke and hit his girlfriend, whose name was not released.
Taylor was arrested at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday and released from Athens-Clarke County Jail on a $5,000 bond Wednesday.
The defensive end, listed third on the depth chart entering summer camp, played in 10 games as a redshirt freshman last season.
He was one of four Georgia football players arrested in March for receiving double payments for checks of $71.50 issued by the school's athletic department.

Former Masters champion Mike Weir was the story early on, but ended two back after a closing 67. That was Weir's first top-10 since 2010 and his best finish since ending second at the weather-shortened Pebble Beach Pro-Am in 2009.
