Ringgold,GA (WDEF) With spring football now over, it's time for Georgia coach Mark Richt to support the people that support the Bulldogs. He met with local Georgia fans on Tuesday night at the Ringgold Colonnade.

Mark Richt will see a lot of the Bulldog nation in the next few weeks. It’s all apart of a 12 city UGA tour. "I like taking these trips because everybody always comes to see us. We appreciate that very much and because we appreciate it, we want come and see them."

One trip Richt would have enjoyed last year was a trip to the national title game. Georgia missed it by five yards. Their drive stalled on the five in the SEC Championship game against Alabama as time expired. "We certainly know we came close. We're excited about the possibility of getting closer the next time and getting to the ultimate goal."

Georgia has won the last two SEC East titles, but Richt isn’t predicting a third. "A lot of people want to make their predictions and say it's going to be a certain team. I don't remember what year it was. It might have been 2005. I think we were picked to be fourth or fifth in the league, and we ended up winning the Southeastern Conference that year."

Georgia returns ten starters from an offense that set multiple school records, but they have only four returning starters on defense. "Our job now is just to find out who the starters are, and who is really prepared to play."

Richt wouldn’t mind seeing the young defenders develop in the off-season like a former Bulldogs star. "At the end of his freshman year. The spring after his freshman year, going into his sophomore year, we didn't even know if he would start. We figured he might play a little bit. But as it turned out, he was the player of the year in the SEC, and that was David Pollack."
