Even though Mark Richt is 11-1 against Georgia Tech, he knows the Yellow Jackets are still a big rival.
"Well it's in the state. Everybody has got an in-state rival. We've played them for over 100 years, so it has been happening for a long time. That's a lot of history."
Said receiver Chris Conley,"It's always a game you hear about every year, regardless of whether you are in college or whether you watch football or not. It's a game that has a lot of connotations throughout the year for all the residents of Georgia."
Saturday's game will be the first career start for Georgia quarterback Hutson Mason, who is replacing the injured Aaron Murray.
Said Mason,"I'm not trying to put too much outside pressure on myself. I'm trying to look at it as just another game, but obviously I know that it's Georgia Tech. I know it's a big rivalry game."
Said Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson,"Huston Mason was a highly decorated player coming out of high school at Lassiter. He threw for a lot of yards. Clearly he's a talented guy. I don't think that it will change a lot of what they'll do. He has been in the program four years."
Having Todd Gurley in the backfield is a big bonus for Mason.
Said Johnson,"Without question, Todd Gurley, if he's not the best running back in the country, then it's a small line that he would be in. Very talented player not only good at running the football. Talented in the passing game as well at receiver."
Georgia's defense has given up their share of big plays this season, and Coach Richt is hoping to avoid more against the Yellow Jackets.
"When you play them, it's usually man-to-man coverage across the board. No free safety help. When one guy does make a mistake, there's no one behind him to clean it up."
