ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Georgia coach Mark Richt says Tuesday's opening day of spring practice was "outstanding" - despite the arrests of four players the day before.
Richt says it was important the arrests did not "take away from the excitement of day one."
The four players were arrested on charges of illegal check-cashing on Monday and released on bond Monday night were safety Tray Matthews, defensive linemen Jonathan Taylor and James DeLoach and wide receiver Uriah LeMay.
Each of the four participated in Tuesday's practice.
Richt said there was "a lot of excitement" for the first practice with new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.
Tuesday also was the start of senior Hutson Mason's only full season as the starting quarterback.
