Ashlen Dewart Paces Lady Mocs in Blue Gold Scrimmage

UTC fans got their first look at the Lady Mocs basketball team in the annual Blue-Gold Classic Tuesday night at the McKenzie Arena. The Gold team edged the Blue 21-19 in the 10-minute period. Junior post Ashlen Dewart went 5-for-7 from the field to pace the Gold Team to the victory. Sophomore Ka’Vonne Towns was 3-for-3 from the field for six points and dished out a team-high-tying two assists. The Gold Team was 10-of-18 (55.6%) from the field and outrebounded the Blue Team 10-5 with seven assists. However, the Gold missed all five attempts from beyond the arc. The Blue Team was 8-of-15 (53.3%) from the floor getting a trio of 3-pointers from juniors Taylor Hall, Faith Dupree, and Alex Black. Dupree led all scorers with 11 points making all five of her attempts with one assist and one blocked shot in seven minutes. Hall and Black each had three with senior Kayla Christopher chipping in the last two. The Lady Mocs return to the floor Thursday night in an exhibition matchup with NAIA Lee University.

Rockies send Rutledge to Triple-A
