Chattanooga-(WDEF) The UTC women's golf team will be chasing their fifth consecutive SoCon tournament title this weekend at Hilton Head.
Senior Jordan Britt has to feel confident heading into the event.
The Signal Mountain grad is coming off a career low round of 67 earlier this week.
Jordan Britt is the only senior on the Mocs golf team, and that has earned her an endearing nickname.
Said head coach Colette Murray,"Big Momma. (laughs) I mean, she's tall and she's the Momma, so Big Momma kind of fits her."
Added Britt,"I don't mind it. I'm a pretty big girl. I can take it."
Reporter-"Have you seen the movies?"
Said Britt,"Yes, I have. (Laughs)"
But Britt doesn't use her senior experience as an over-bearing Momma.
"I don't feel like a leader. It's not like I try to be a leader. If I was going to lead, I would want to do so by example. So, I hope that I was able to do that while I was here. But as far as giving orders and knocking some heads, no, I don't do that."
Britt is certainly setting the example. She has the lowest scoring average in the SoCon at just under 74 strokes.
Said Muirray,"She's a fighter and she wants to get better."
Coach Murray admires how Britt can smile even after a bad shot.
"That's an advantage that she has over everybody. The fact that she can do that. Not many people have that ability to do it and not be a facade, it's not fake. She's just like well it's done, now I've got to fix it.'"
Britt won the SoCon individual tournament title in 2012, and she'd love capture that crown again.
"Go out with a bang, definitely. I want to make, and I told coach at the beginning of the semester, that I want to graduate not regretting, not putting in the time, or not putting in the work I needed to be the best player that I could for this team and for myself."
