The Lady Mocs held off a furious Samford comeback to win 66-60 on Wednesday in Birmingham. The Bulldogs were short-handed with five players out with an injury or illness. That may have played into Chattanooga's fast start. They opened the game on a 15-0 run. Lady Mocs still led by eleven at the break before Samford caught fire in the second half. They hit 66-percent of their shots, but the Lady Mocs were able to hold on for the victory. Ashlen Dewart led UTC with 14 points.
Samford's Jazmine Martin led all scorers with 31 points, including 14 of 18 shooting from the field. With the win, Chattanooga improves to 8-1 in the Southern Conference. They're back home on Saturday at 6pm against App State.
