Injuries and transfer rules have sidelined Faith Dupree for much of her college career. And then she suffers a torn MCL in the Lady Mocs third game this season. "I've sat out how many games my whole career? Having to sit out again. It's not good news for me." Added head coach Wes Moore,"She has been through a lot and overcome a lot. That probably helped her as far as being patient and working through it."
Since it was a torn MCL, at least Dupree wouldn't have to sit out the season. Said Dupree,"They said I would be out 12 weeks. Me and Coach Moore decided a little earlier would be great." Said Moore,"I have always been Dr. Moore. No. When you have been doing it 25 years or so, you've heard most of these evaluations by doctors and things. So obviously it was great news when we heard it wasn't an ACL because we all know what that means."
Dupree returned last Friday against Davidson, and 'Dr. Moore' says she looked good. "Davidson game. First game back. We were struggling to score, and she came in early and scored like eight straight points. So that's what Faith is capable of doing. I thought that gave us a big lift." Said Dupree,"I think the adrenaline helped me out a lot. I wasn't as nervous as I expected."
With Dupree back in action, it helps lighten the load for fellow forward Ashlen Dewart. Said Dupree,"Well, I know Ashlen has been playing 35, maybe 40 minutes a game, and I just want to help her out." Said Moore,"Her and Ashlen make a great tag team combo. They both play better when they're able to rotate in and out a little bit and stay fresh."
