CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---Chattanooga Mocs Head Basketball Coach Will Wade announced the signing of Greg Pryor, Jr., Tuesday morning. Pryor helped guide Ridgeway High School to the Memphis City Championship during his senior year.
“We’re really excited about Greg” said Wade. “He addresses two areas of need. That’s the ability to knock down the three-point shot and pressure the ball defensively.”
Pryor earned Memphis Commercial Appeal Best of Preps honors on the Class AAA squad. The 6’2” guard averaged 13 points, four rebounds and three assists per game for Wes Henning as the Roadrunners posted a 25-4 record and were ranked nationally in USA Today’s Super 25 during 2012-13.
Perhaps, most importantly with Wade’s Chaos attack of pressure defense and up-tempo offense, Pryor comes to Chattanooga with a reputation of a top-notch defender.
“Ridgeway presses and has a lot of the same elements we have,” Wade added. “His experience there will be invaluable. He really knows how to engulf the ball and pressure 94 feet.
“Greg is a young high school senior (he turns 18 in September),” Wade concluded. “His best basketball is ahead of him.”
He joins Justin Tuoyo and Anthanee Doyle in signing this spring with the Mocs. T.J. Williams and Christian Kennedy inked in the fall.
