Mocs Casey Jones Likely Out For the Year
The Mocs basketball team has already lost two starters to injuries this season. And now it appears they have lost a third. Freshman forward Casey Jones is sidelined indefinitely with a knee injury.
Casey Jones started all eleven games for the Mocs this season. But he hurt his knee the Friday before Christmas, and now he may not be back this year. Said head coach John Shulman,"The status is. It's not an ACL tear, which was feared, but there is some complications down there. There is a possible fracture of a bone. Does he need surgery? I don't know. Does he need a screw in it? I don't know. Is there some meniscus damage? I don't know. Let's say it was a six or seven week injury. Let's say they have to put a screw in it like Lance (Stokes), six to eight weeks. There's the season."
Jones will join the rest of the Mocs M*A*S*H unit in forward Lance Stokes, and senior guard Dontay Hampton. To compensate for Jones injury, freshman Farad Cobb will take over the point guard position, and RonRico White will move from the point to the wing. Said White,"The show must go on. Casey went down. I'm going to have to step up and move to the three a little bit more." Added Shulman,"We maybe just got better offensively with Rico and Farad on the court at the same time. How are we going to stop somebody? You can't lose your top three defensive players and be better defensively."
Reporter-"Does this team feel snake bit at all?" Said guard Martynas Bareika,"We don't have time to feel like that. We have to keep playing through it." Added Shulman,"I got my hair cut a long time ago. I told the lady to fix this spot right here that's balding. And she says, I cut hair. I'm not a magician. I about feel the same thing. I coach basketball. I'm not a magician. We're now down to ten players. We are going to coach those ten as hard as we can coach those ten."
