Chattanooga-(WDEF) The Mocs basketball team has started workouts under new head coach Will Wade. They're already trying to adapt to Wade's fast and furious style called Chaos.

Even though Will Wade's office is organized, he advertises Chaos with the slogan hanging on his office wall. The motto is more than just a coaching philosophy. Said Wade,"But it's really a lifestyle of how we do everything. If you ask our players, our strength and conditioning is chaotic if you will, very fast paced."

And Wade hopes his players will keep going faster. "Always tell our guys, once you reach a certain threshold, your body will become comfortable again. And then I'll ratchet it up a couple of more degrees, and you'll become uncomfortable. We are going to bring in a Navy Seal. Somebody we have used at previous stops I've been at. We're going to bring him in in September for a couple of days to work with our guys."

Wade says Chaos is a combination of all out pressure defense he learned as an assistant at Clemson combined with a three-point assault he picked up at VCU. "Well, we want to put you on your heels to start. We give our bigs. They've got to have the ball out of the net in two steps if the other team scores. We have a rule. When you get a steal, you pass a steal. So we want to get a steal and look immediately up the court. Looking for either a layup or a quick three. If you can hit a couple of those, twice a half, that's a real back-breaker for the other teams. Lot easier to speed a team up than to just slow a team down. So a lot of times, guys want to run even the other players on the other team. If their coach makes them play at a little more possesion oriented or a little slower, they want to run deep down. So if we give them an opportunity to run, they're going to go. We practice like that all the time. They don't. So I think that's to our advantage."

So how close will the Mocs be to perfecting Chaos next season? "We've got some nice pieces this year. Certainly we need more. We need more of them. I'm not sure our depth is going to be phenomenal. But I do think there are some nice pieces. Some long athletic guys."
