The Chattanooga Mocs nearly pulled off a second straight, double digit comeback at the Roundhouse.
This time the rally fell short as the Mocs fell to Western Carolina 90-81.
Western Carolina scored 48 points in the opening half and later went on a 14-4 run as a Brandon Boggs dunk gave the Catamounts a 16 point lead early in the second half.
After cutting the lead to nine on two occasions, Z. Mason nailed a trey to cut it to 68-62, with just under nine minutes to play.
The Mocs fell behind by nine from there, but nearly duplicated their big 19 point comeback against Appalachian St.
UTC used a 16 for 19 from the line down the stretch to cut the lead to seven. With 1:13 to go Dontay Hampton, playing with a broken hand, knocked down a trey to cut the lead to four.
That's as cloe as the Mocs could get, however, as they fell 90-81.
     Z. Mason poured in 21 points and 6 rebounds, while Gee McGhee tied his season high with 19 points, while chipping in four rebounds, two assists and two steals. He and Mason were the lone Mocs in double digits as Ronrico White had nine points and a team-high five assists.
Hampton had nine points and 6 rebounds despite playing with a broken hand suffered in the win over Appalachian St.
