Mocs quarterback Jacob Huesman leads the team in rushing this year. He takes a lot of hits as a running quarterback, but Huesman is pretty tough. Huesman credits his father Russ, the Mocs head coach, for his toughness as a runner.

Said Russ,"Like I said, I've been around the kid all my life. He's tough. He's a competitor." Said Jacob after the Georgia Southern game,"If that's what it takes to keep us in the game, I'll carry the ball 500 times in a game. I don't care." Reporter-"Do you think you could really carry the football 500 times in a game?" Said Jacob,"That's a stretch. When I said that, it was a little bit of an exaggeration. Being a quarterback, you don't really get an opportunity to punish anybody or hit them. It's kind of rewarding to keep getting back up after they knock you down. It's kind of like yeah, you guys can't hurt me."

Said Russ,"Mine and his relationship. He was eight or nine or ten, I didn't let him not hustle. Yeah, I can remember car rides back, and he's in the back seat balling. Crying because I'm on him."

Reporter-"Your dad was telling us when you were a kid that he would get on to you and you would cry." Said Jacob,"Oh man. (laughter) Yeah."

Said Russ,"Yeah, he would beg to ride with my wife if we drove separately." Reporter-"He said sometimes you would rather ride with your mom." Said Jacob,"All the time. All the time believe me. No kid wants to ride home when he knows that kind of stuff is coming. I'd much rather that he say that to me then. I'm a kid. I don't like it, but it worked out good for me in the end."

Said Russ,"I never sugar-coated it. I would never say great job at least until we started recruiting him." (laughter) Added Jacob,"He didn't really correct anything I did in the period of time they were recruiting me. Good job Jacob. My mom would be, Jacob, why aren't you doing very good in this class? Russ, why is he not doing good in this class? I don't know. (laughter) I think he's doing fine."
