Chattanooga-(WDEF) For the first time in three years, Chattanooga enjoys a first round bye in the SoCon Tournament.
UTC earned a two seed.
Said head coach Will Wade,"I was excited about getting the two seed, until Jim (Horten) told me we don't have anybody that has won a game on the roster in the conference tournament."
Added forward Z Mason,"By getting that two seed, it gives us a lot more confidence. We are going in with a lot of momentum and an edge as well."
Said Wade,"The seeding is not as important as the match-ups. Usually the better seed you get, the better the match-ups are."
The next Mocs loss will be their last game of the season.
Said guard Rico White,"It's more of an urgency. You don't want to go home. You don't want this to be your seniors last game."
Said Mason,"It's tournament time. It's a buzz around campus. It's a buzz around the team. It's a good feeling."
Chattanooga has to win the SoCon tournament to earn a ticket to the Big Dance.
Said Wade,"I think what happens in tournament play sometimes, you get so focused on winning and losing. We got to win. We got to win. We got to win. That's an avoidance goal. When you're like we can't lose. We can't lose. What you've got to focus in on is the process. What goes into to winning. I'm going to give our guys three things that will help us win this week."
The Mocs won their last two games, and they hope that winning vibe carries over to the tournament.
Said White,"It's all about getting hot. All about who has the momentum at the time. You never know what's going to happen. You've just got to be focused. Get better each day this week and be ready to go on Saturday."
