JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Former University of Tennessee tailback David Oku has signed with Arkansas State.

ASU coach Gus Malzahn announced the signing of the former SuperPrep All-American from Midwest City, Okla., in a news release Wednesday.

ASU sports information director Jerry Scott says Oku will have two years of eligibility remaining and will be eligible immediately because he sat out the 2011 season.

Oku led Tennessee in kickoff returns and return yardage as a freshman and sophomore but announced plans to transfer in January 2011 after dropping on the Volunteers' depth chart at tailback.

Oku was rated by Rivals.com as the top all-purpose running back in 2008 after his senior season at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City.
