KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee forward Jeronne Maymon will miss the Volunteers' season opener Nov. 9 against Kennesaw State as he continues to recover from offseason arthroscopic surgery to each of his knees.

Vols coach Cuonzo Martin said last week that Maymon had a "minor setback" in his recovery and probably wouldn't be ready for the start of the season. Martin updated Maymon's condition Tuesday by saying the 6-foot-7 senior definitely would miss the Vols' first game. Martin offered no timetable for Maymon's return.

Maymon averaged 12.7 points and ranked fifth in the Southeastern Conference with 8.1 rebounds per game last season to earn second-team all-SEC honors. Maymon had surgery on his right knee in March to repair torn meniscus, then he had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in June.
