After beating Iowa in overtime in the NCAA Tournament play-in game on Wednesday in Dayton Ohio, the Vols had to catch a plane afterwards for Raleigh, North Carolina. That's where Tennessee will battle UMass on Friday in the next round of the Big Dance. It's a quick turnaround when you factor in the travel, but the Vols don't mind. Said forward Jarnell Stokes,"It's much better than a bus ride back home. Have to keep that mentality. I think you saw a lot of teams lose today that did not come out and play the way they should. That's sort of what we went through getting that first game under our belt. I'm just glad we've got the first game. Hopefully we don't come out sluggish tomorrow."
Vols can not afford to be sluggish against the Minutemen. They like to push the tempo. UMass is averaging 76-points game, and they've been hitting 46-percent of their shots. Should be another good challenge for Tennessee's defense. The Volunteers have allowed 68 or less points in nine straight games, which includes two overtime matchups. Said UT head coach Cuonzo Martin,"It's really about their personnel, and Chaz Williams their point guard is very talented. He's quick with the ball. Haven't seen a lot of guys like him with that speed."
Tennessee and UMass are scheduled to tip around 2:45pm in Raleigh. You can watch the game on WDEF News 12.
