Vols Trying to Rebuild 'Wide Receiver U' This Spring
There was a ton of receiver talent on the field at Neyland Stadium on Wednesday. Too bad it was gone by Thursday. Cordarrelle Patterson, Justin Hunter, and even Da'Rick Rogers were in Knoxville for the Vols pro day. Of course all three are turning pro, so UT must find some new talent this spring to restore the Vols famous nickname of 'Wide Receiver U'.
Freshman Paul Harris hopes to be in the receiving mix, although he got surprise at practice on Thursday. When he showed up in the locker room, his number one jersey had been changed to 91. Said offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian,"Coach (Butch) Jones is the master of motivation. It's just a way to say, wearing number one at the University of Tennessee is a privilege. Think about all the great guys that have worn that jersey. That position particularly takes a little bit longer to get used to the tempo. They run more than any other position on the field. When it comes to being in game shape, those guys take the longest to get adjusted."
