CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) - Casey Jones scored 19 points as Chattanooga topped Western Carolina in overtime 83-81 Thursday.
Western Carolina (17-13, 10-5 Southern Conference) led by three with 21 seconds left in regulation when Brandon Boggs made a pair of free throws after a foul by Z. Mason.
But the Mocs (17-13, 11-4) responded, as Martynas Bareika drilled a 3-pointer with 8 seconds left. When Trey Sumler's last-second shot missed, the teams headed to overtime.
In overtime, Ronrico White's 3-pointer with 22 seconds brought Chattanooga within one. Jones followed with a layup and White made 1 of 2 free throws as the Mocs scored the last six points of OT to escape with the twin.
Chattanooga shot 46 percent from the floor, including 8 of 16 from beyond the arc. Mason had 16 points and seven rebounds, while Gee McGhee had 15 and White ended with 13.
Boggs paced Western Carolina with 22 points.
