Former Moc B.J. Coleman Reflects on First NFL Season

B.J. Coleman lobbed a few passes at tonight's 'Wish Bowl' function. Coleman saw his wish come true last season, playing for a storied NFL franchise in Green Bay. "What a great organization the Green Bay Packers. To be able to go up there, especially for my first year. Come in and get a good base down offensively, and just being a pro in general, learning how to be a professional."

And getting a paycheck to play football makes the game a little different. "The biggest thing is it's a business. It's consistency up there. They want to make sure you do it day in and day out. You can't take any plays off. That's a huge thing up there, especially for a quarterback. You have to understand what you are doing because you've got ten other guys you are trying to lead."

Coleman still doesn't exactly embrace the weather in Green Bay like a true Packer-Backer. "It's cold. It's very cold. But it's almost welcomed there. They want it to be cold because it's so traditional there. They want that Lambeau Field, the Ice Bowl."

Coleman says Green Bay starting QB Aaron Rodgers has been a great mentor. But it will be hard for Coleman to replace him. So Coleman wouldn't be surprised if he has to go another team to get on the field. "You know your Aaron Brooks, your Mark Brunell's, and Matt Hasselbeck's, those guys were trained and groomed there as well. Just to kind of see the path that they took. Maybe a starting job somewhere else. But somewhere like the Packers is great to get out there and work. It's a blessing. It's a blessing to be there and learn from those guys."
