MACON, Ga. (AP) - Kassidy Blevins scored 21 points to lead Gordon Lee to a 61-56 win over Randolph-Clay on Thursday in the GHSA Class A girls public school championship game at the Macon Coliseum.
Senior Katie Barger added 14 points for the Trojans (25-7), who won their first state championship. Kaneika Washington led the Red Devils (29-3) with 26 points.
The Trojans led by 20 points heading into the fourth quarter, building a lead by shooting 55.2 percent (16 of 29) in the first half. Randolph-Clay made a run in the fourth quarter, drawing as close as six points.
The Red Devils wore the purple away uniforms of Jones County after arriving with only white home jerseys.
Gordon Lee became the new division's first champion. The GHSA executive committee voted in 2012 to split public and private schools in the state playoffs for the 2012-13 school year.
