SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - The father of the driver run over and killed by Tony Stewart tells The Syracuse Post-Standard that "there's no reason for" the crash that led to his son's death.
Kevin Ward Jr. was sent into the wall when his car was bumped by Stewart's in a dirt-track race on Saturday night. Ward got out of the car and walked onto the track, where he was hit by Stewart.
Kevin Ward Sr. told the newspaper that, "the one person that knows what happened that night is possibly facing 10 years in prison. Is he going to say what he done?"
When the 20-year-old Ward got out of his damaged car, he walked on the track and appeared to point at Stewart. Other cars drove past him, but Stewart's right-rear tire appeared to hit him and drag him along the track.
"Apparently, Tony Stewart was the only one driving out there who didn't see him," Ward told the newspaper.
No charges have been filed against Stewart, but they are still possible.

1st I can't imagine your loss. 2nd, your desire to blame someone other than your son would be any parents desire. That doesn't change the facts. Video in slow motion is clear. KWj got out of his car, ran toward the other drivers (who never would have hit his car from their position on track), jumped on the wing on TS car causing it to swerve from the weight, then fell off the car. Tony never struck your son. Your comment states that only tony knows what happened. Well that is simply not true. Thanks to the video in hand we see it was KWj who made the first contact w Stewarts car. We see that TS would not have hit Kevin' s car had he been in it. I can only assume your pain and anguish is so great that you refuse to see at this time that your son would still be with you had he stayed in his car. Perhaps he could have even survived running toward the center of a hot race track had he not grabbed the car. We will never know. Again, I am sorry for your loss and pray that peace and enlightenment enters your heart.
