Chattanooga-(WDEF) There's a changing of the guard for the Lady Mocs this season. Head coach Wes Moore is gone after 15 successful seasons. Replacing him is Jim Foster, one of the winningest coaches in women's college basketball history with nearly 800 victories.

Jim Foster might think he has been given the keys to a Cadillac. In his first year at UTC, he takes over a team that was 29-4 last season, and they return ten players. Said Foster,"We've got pretty good players. We've got some depth at positions, and experience, and talented freshmen, who will get an opportunity to learn from some veteran players, which is always good."

The talented players are now adjusting to their new Hall of Fame coach. Said guard Alex Black,"It's very different, but because it's like new, I feel like it's exciting for all of us." Added forward Ashlen Dewart,"I think Coach Foster is a lot more fast paced, and we are going to be pushing it a lot more." Said Foster,"Their phrase is fast paced. My phrase is day-to-day. That's what we do."

The Lady Mocs are ranked 16th in one preseason poll, so coach Foster jokes it's time to party. "We'll probably have a banquet and parade next week some time." Said Dewart,"That's a good thing on paper, and we are honored to have that. But we still know we have to work, and we have to earn what we are going to get this year."

UTC will have their work cut out for them to start the year. Three of their first five games are against the Bob Stoops propaganda league. Said Foster,"Looking at the schedule, I'm not convinced we're not in the SEC for the month of November."

Chattanooga beat two SEC teams last year, including the Lady Vols. But it's a post-season win they desire the most. Said Dewart,"Like we said, we got to the NCAA tournament and that was great, but we want to win a game in the NCAA tournament. That's our goal this year is to win."
