Lady Vols Lose Opener in College World Series to Alabama

Alabama beat Tennessee 5-3 at the College Softball World Series in Oklahoma City. The Tide loaded the bases in the bottom of the first with nobody out, and Cassie Reilly-Boccia delievered a double that scored all three runs. Bama wound up getting four runs in the inning. Tennessee answered in the bottom of the second with a two run homer from Melissa Davin. The Tide carried a 5-2 lead into the seventh. Lady Vols scored one run, and then they had two runners on base with two outs, but Kat Danson struck out to end the game. The Lady Vols fall into the loser's bracket. They will play again on Saturday afternoon against either Oregon or Arizona.
