Lady Vols Prepare For "Road" Game in Sweet 16
Knoxville-(WDEF) The Lady Vols enjoyed the home court advantage in the first two rounds of the Big Dance. But now the tables will be turned in the Sweet 16. Tennnessee must play Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. Said head coach Holly Warlick, "I think we have prepared for it. We have played some tough games on the road and won. So, it's a matter of how you are going to play, regardless of where you are. You have to stick to your game plan and take care of business." Added guard Meighan Simmons,"I have faith in our team. I have faith in myself and the rest of my teammates. I just think if we go out there and play hard, and we play Tennessee basketball, we will come out with another 'W'."
The Lady Vols have earned plenty of W's in the NCAA tournament, posting a 114-23 overall record in the Big Dance. So there's always pressure to win even more. Said guard Kamiko Williams,"It's pressure. But at the same time, we signed up for it. So it's something I've been used to for four years, and the freshmen are getting used to it." Said Warlick,"I'm just glad we are in our next game. That's just how we have kept it. Absolutely, we are going to play that Oklahoma game to the best of our ability."
Tennessee has battled through several injuries to reach this point. But now they're healthy and confident. Said Simmons,"And I feel like we are one of those teams that no matter what, when adversity hits, we stick together. I think if we continue to do that, and just use the physicality we face in the SEC and work towards that. I think we will be just fine."
