The Lee Flames rapped out 19 hits and 14 runs en route to a 14-0 pasting of Avila in the title game of the NAIA Cleveland Bracket. Lee advances to their 7th straight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament in Idaho.
The Flames jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on the strength of a Danny Canela three run homer. Lee added three runs in the second, six runs in the fourth, helping them to the 14-0 rout.
Corey Davis was a perfect 4-4 at the plate with two doubles and three RBI. Canela finished up 2-6 with 4 RBI.
On the mound, four Flames pitchers combined on the shutout, led by Clint Terry, who allowed just three hits over five innings striking out five.
Lee will head to Lewiston, Idaho for the national tournament. The Flames have claimed runner up honors twice in the last five years, in 2008 and 2010.
It will be their final shot at an NAIA crown as they move up to NCAA Division II next season as a part of the Gulf Coast Conference.
