Chris Reed's best wasn't good enough to get the Chattanooga Lookouts a victory Tuesday night.

Reed, a former No. 1 pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers, was in complete command against the Montgomery Biscuits most of the night. But so, too, was Montgomery starter Michael Colla. A bona fide Cinderella story, Colla worked seven shutout iinnings, allowing only four hits to lead the Biscuits to a 3-0 victory at AT&T Field.

The Lookouts won't have long to fret about this one, however, as the two teams hurry back to AT&T Field Wednesday morning for an 11:15 battle. Andres Santiago (3-5) will be called on by manger Jody Reed.

Chris Reed (3-7) worked a season-high eight innings for the Lookouts, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out seven. But the Biscuits added an insurance run against Onelki Garcia, while the Montgomery bullpen (Marquis Fleming and C.J. Riefenhauser) were up to locking down the shutout, the latter earning his 11th save.

Colla improved to 3-0 and the Biscuits have won all four of his starts since he was picked off the scrap heap of the indy Atlantic League by Tampa Bay. He has allowed only one run over his last 14 innings.

Neither team scored until the fifth inning, when the Biscuits loaded the bases with nobody out. A run scored on a double play ball, and Reed escaped further trouble. But his offense could not answer and the visitors scored their second run in the eighth on a leadoff double by Riccio Torrez and a pair of ground balls.

Garcia was touched for a run on a Hector Guevara single, a stolen base and a Cameron Seitzer single. The Biscuits outhit the Lookouts 7-5, with Torrez and Kevin Klemaier picking up two apiece.
