CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF)- The Chattanooga Mocs found the end zone on their first two possessions, then hung on to beat #15 Wofford 20-10. The victory combined with Samford's loss to Furman gives the Mocs a piece of their first conference title since 1984.
UTC got on the board early in the first quarter with a six play drive that ended with a 7 yard touchdown run from Jacob Huesman. The Mocs added to the lead on their second possession with another short drive, ending in a Kenny Huitt score to give UTC a 14-0 lead.
From there, it became a defensive struggle, as Chattanooga forced Wofford into four turnovers, with Wes Dothard's pick with under two minutes to play sealing the win for Chattanooga.
Nakevion Leslie anchored the Mocs defense, tallying 14 tackles and a sack. Chattanooga limited the high powered Wofford rushing attack to just 172 yards, 100 under their season average.
The Mocs can win the Southern Conference outright with a victory next week at Samford.
