University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior running back Keon Williams is the Southern Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, the league office announced today. Williams is the first Moc to grab consecutive offensive player of the week honors from the SoCon since Eldra Buckley (2004-05) in 2005.
Williams, a Chattanooga native, posted 106 rushing yards, and a career-high three touchdowns on 11 carries, in a 42-10 win over Austin Peay on Saturday. He averaged 9.6 yards per carry while recording his second straight 100-yard rushing game. It was the first time a Moc has rushed for three scores since teammate Terrell Robinson did it at Georgia Southern in 2011.
Williams currently ranks third in the league and 19th in the nation in rushing (97.7 ypg). He has not been tackled for a loss in 39 carries this season. He has totaled 293 yards on the ground and is averaging 7.5 yards per carry. He leads the SoCon with four rushing touchdowns and is tied with teammate Faysal Shafaat for the league lead in scoring.
