University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior linebacker Wes Dothard is the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today.  Dothard guided the Mocs to a 20-9 win at Elon over the weekend.

Dothard posted a season-high 13 tackles in UTC’s victory.  He made three big third down stops, including a tackle for a six-yard loss late in the fourth quarter.  He also broke up a pass in the win.

The Mocs defense has not allowed a touchdown in the last two games, and Dothard has led that charge.  He has a team-high 50 tackles to go with three TFLs this season.

This is the fourth SoCon weekly honor of Dothard's career and the first since his sophomore season in 2011.  It is the second week in a row a Moc has earned the league’s defensive honor.

UTC is currently 5-2 overall and 3-1 in SoCon play.  The Mocs host The Citadel as they go for win No. 500 as a program on Saturday, Oct. 26.  Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at Finley Stadium.
